Having spent her childhood in the north eastern part of India, Rupanjana De spent majority of her growing up years in Silchar, Assam where she graduated in Economics and in Law. She has a number of gripping stories up her sleeve, of numerous adventurous episodes from her times in the North East.

Rupanjana De is married to Dr Paritosh Nandi, Doctorate in Solar Energy Technology who is now heading the diversified EnVERT Group of Companies. Dr Nandi is an expert in Solar Energy Technology with expertise in Green Building, Clean Development Mechanism, Solar Energy Installations, Energy Audit and Energy Management with exposure in India and abroad. He has authored several publications in scientific and research journals all over the world and also acts as a Reviewer for evaluation of research and publication proposals. Dr Nandi has been biographed in Marquis Who’s Who in science and engineering in 2007 and Who’s Who in the World in 2008 and 2012. He is also a certified energy auditor by the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

Her mother, Smt Bani Som De worked under the Government of Assam as a principal of a girls’ high school and has also held various other administrative and honorary positions during her teaching career. She has been nominated for various awards and received a number of prestigious honours at various forums during her tenure as a school principal.

Her father Rathindra Narayan De was working with the Government of Mizoram until the day of his retirement in 1995. He was the Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, and the Official Liquidator, Government of Mizoram. A bronze medalist in Mizoram state games and a poet by hobby, Shri De has a host of diplomas and is also an acclaimed amateur magician and astrologer. Post retirement, both Shri De and Smt De currently reside in Kolkata.

Her elder sister is a master degree holder in Geology from Jadavpur University and chose to pursue a career as a Software Engineer. She is currently based in Hyderabad.

Rupanjana De is also the doting mother of 10-year-old Tannishtha who studies in a reputed international school in Kolkata and is an avid reader, a promising writer and a painter. She became India's youngest novelist at the age of 10 in September, 2017 when her fan-friction novel 'The Secret Of Goldbug Castle' was published.
